HISTORY

50s - 60s

Founded in 1958, by Mr J.Y. Koo & Mrs Mina Koo, UCP initially only produced plastic flowers.  Floral components were first manufactured in small batches in a very humble facility in Hung Hom, Hong Kong. The components were later distributed to nearby neighborhood families for assembly; thus starting our own cottage-industry based operations.

70s - 80s

The second generation of the family assumed the leadership roles of the business which expanded operations into Guangdong, China in 1977. With grit, unyielding resolve, and manufacturing know-how, the second generation of the family carved out UCP’s place in the industry and slowly gained recognition as a leading design-oriented manufacturer with customers spanning the US, Europe, and Japan.

90s - 00s

The third generation of the family were invited to join the company in the late ’90s. The younger generation of the Koo/Ku’s brought their youthful enthusiasm and worldly perspective into the company whilst working alongside their elders. This was an invaluable experience where the two generations came together to map out the future direction of the company. Always being a “customer-first” company addressing global trends and technological development, UCP’s strategy was to provide a wide breadth of services to all its customers with a keen focus on trend, design, and product differentiation.

00s - 10s

With 65 years storied years behind us, UCP’s mission remains to inspire people to decorate and celebrate with our thoughtfully designed products and attentive services.  Combining this mission with our values, our organization continues to invest in talent, technology, automation, finding sustainable solutions for all our materials and giving back to our communities. Our continuous commitment to excellence has led us to expand our production and design centers.

10s - Now

UCP is not only committed to excellence but to ensure that the world will be a better place than we found it. We plan to continually invest in sustainability and social contribution, all the while sharing the beauty of artisanal botanicals and home décor trends with all of humanity.
